Let it Ride

Moose Lodge 1939 2010 Casino Bus Trip

Let it Ride is just what 57 folks from the Moose and friends did on Saturday, March 27, 2010, with our trusty driver “Dean-O” Dean Olmstead.  The group headed out early in the morning (actually leaving on schedule, if you can believe).  Our first stop was at the Harrison Moose Lodge for a great breakfast (we figured you would need a good meal as a base to sustain this kind of action all day and night).  We then continued on north until we stopped at the Odawa Casino in Petoskey.  There were a lot of “hot seats” on our bus.  Hot seats being two passengers who won $1,000 dollars each on their players’ club cards and the driver winning on the return trip for a cool $500 added on his card.  From Petoskey, we motored over the Mackinaw Bridge to the Kewadin Casino in St. Ignace for our overnight stay.  The group enjoyed playing Plinko for prizes on the ride, as well as swapping some stories with some good company and sharing a few refreshments together.  We did not find the “big wheel” quite as profitable as last year but, we gave it a good try anyway.  Again, the refreshments were going down at St. Ignace, followed by a bit of dancing and more slot play.  We had a few big winners on the bus, names withheld to protect from beggars.  The rest of us losers met back at our lodge to try and recoup our money on the “rip offs”, I mean pull tabs.

Bus Trip Trivia:

Q.        How many people you can fit in one of those tiny little bathrooms on the bus?

A.         Five and parts of a sixth person.  We have the photos to prove it.

Q.        How many people made us late on the last stop so that we were not able to go to Soaring Eagle Casino?

A.         Two.

Q.        How late were they?

A.         20 Minutes.

Q.        Who forgot their bag after getting off the bus and driving home?

A.         Hints only.  They are from Belding…

Q.        How many riders took Monday off work?

A.            Unknown.  But, I bet more wished they had.

Profit from the trip was donated to our local Moose Lodge.
